Make Texting While Driving Illegal in Florida

Texting while driving has been outlawed in 35 states as well as D.C., yet Florida has failed to join the cause. The number one cause of death for teens is car accidents and texting while driving is becoming the number one cause of teen related accidents in the United States.

Although a law against texting while driving has been proposed, it was voted against on precedent that the law was already assumed in another standing law. This leaves no law against texting while driving and no way to prosecute based on an assumption.

Recently, Volusia beaches have banned texting while driving along the beach as a precaution after several texting while driving incidents, resulting in beach visitors being injured by distracted drivers.

Help outlaw texting and driving on Florida roads and make, not only our beaches safer, but our streets safer for teens, adults and every civilian on the road.
