Please sign and share this petition everywhere so that we can get the maximum punishment for the owner of an animal boarding house where 17 dogs died and another remains lost! People left their pets with this guy for safe keeping while going away on vacation or for other reasons, only to come home to pick them up and find out their pets were not safe at all. They were deceased. This is horrifying and this guy needs to be punished severely with at least 17 counts! We need to ban together through this petition and gain justice for these precious pets and their beloved families.

Can you imagine leaving your pet with a caretaker while going on vacation or other get-away, only to return to be told the dog ran away; eventually finding out that the pet did not run away but was actually deceased?? This was the case at the Gilbert boarding home in Gilbert, Arizona. Pet owners returned to pick up their pets but were instantly in tears.

The owner of the boarding home, Todd Hughes and his family was committed to care for these dogs in question while the pet owners were out of town. However, when calling for their dogs or receiving a call from Mr. Hughes, these owners were informed that their dogs got loose and ran away. I can't even describe how I would feel, away on vacation, to be informed by a person caring for my pet that it is not safe!

Immediately these pet owners had to go into a search mode to find their dogs and turned up with nothing. This is because the dogs were not missing; they were deceased! When the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office got involved, they discovered 17 dogs in Mr. Hughes care had passed on due to heat exhaustion! Mr. Hughes himself was not caring for the animals;he had other family members checking on the animals.  The report states that "one of the dogs chewed through an air conditioning wire overnight. When the Hughes family checked on the dogs the next morning, many were already dead."

There was a total of 28 dogs in the home, and more than half of them died in a hot room. The report continues to state that "Hughes lied to the dog's owner who is on vacation. It wasn't a tragic accident, it was an act of negligence, completely." It has been noted that one dog was indeed missing with the owners still searching for their beloved pet. Currently no , charges have been filed against the boarding home owner, which does not sit well with any of the pet owners.

This guy needs to be held accountable for this tragedy; Please sign and share this petition everywhere so that we can get the maximum punishment for the owner of an animal boarding house where 17 dogs died and another remains lost! Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Gilbert, AZ - Please ensure that Mr. Todd Hughes is severely punished, at least 17 counts plus the lost pet, for neglect and abuse of all these dogs in his care. He should be charged a felony for each animal in his care. I am sure he was right there with his hand out to collect fees from these caring owners in order to provide a service; a service that ended in tragedy! 17 dogs died, one is still lost and could face further danger and surely the ones who did not perish suffered as well from the extreme heat that took so many lives. Nothing can bring back the lives lost but he needs to be punished enough to gain justice for the losses and their loved ones!
