Goldman and Malone Have Violated Code of Ethics and Must Resign

The Wake County Public Schools Code of Ethics for School Board Members explicitly states: “all members of the Board must adhere to an accepted code of ethics in order to improve public education. Further, the Code of Ethics describes behavior that is to “guide each Board member in the performance of his or her official duties.”  Among these requirements and commitments are:

“The need to uphold the integrity and independence of the Board members office."

“The need to avoid impropriety in the exercise of the Board’s and Board member’s official duties.”

“Take no private action that will compromise the Board or administration…”
and,

“Remember always that a Board member's first and greatest concern must be the educational welfare of the students attending the public schools.”

The behavior of two sitting Wake County School Board members, Debra Goldman and Chris Malone, is in direct violation of the ethical commitments they pledged to uphold.   They should resign voluntarily from their positions, having lost the trust of the community. Neither is fit to serve on the Board of Education. Please sign this petition calling for their resignation.
