Canada: Improve Conditions for Factory Farm Calves!

Undercover footage by Mercy for Animals revealed horrific treatment of the 800 veal calves in a leading factory farm near Quebec City. Footage shows workers punching, kicking and beating the calves, and calves chained by the neck and locked in narrow, feces-covered crates that prevent them from turning around, walking or lying down. Some calves were shown suffering from injuries with no medical treatment.

In one heartbreaking scene, a baby calf suckles the edge of a bucket near his crate, deprived of his mother.

Sadly, this harsh treatment is legal. Farming is self-regulated, so there are no penalties if a factory farm violates the Code of Practice for the treatment of veal calves. Please sign the petition to urge the Retail Association of Canada to pressure meat companies to change these rules and ensure better treatment of their animals!

As you know, this harsh treatment is legal. Farming is self-regulated, so there are no penalties if a factory farm violates the Code of Practice for the treatment of veal calves. We respectfully urge you to pressure meat companies to change these rules and ensure better treatment of their animals. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
