Free internet access for households with children in school

The U.S. Census bureau statistics show that in 2010, 46.2 million U.S. residents were below the Federal poverty level.

That number is currently $11,170 or less yearly income. That's not a lot. Our belief is that anyone that falls within the Federal poverty guidelines, and has one or more children in the home who attend school, should have access to free basic internet service.

Why? Today's society is becoming increasingly reliant on technology, and children without access to it are falling behind.
We believe that everyone deserves an equal chance at an education, and for that to be equal, free internet access for low income families with children in school is a must.
Internet based homework and online courses are on the rise at our schools and unfortunately not everyone can keep up with that.
So we have created this petition to gather signatures from other's who support the idea.
After we get the signatures we will be presenting the petition to the Federal Communications Commission who presides over the Government's Internet and broadband.

We are Affordable Technology Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps bring technology and services to individuals and families in need.
