Care2 Friday Rant and Rave - Nov. 21
|
Happy Friday! This week Eric raves about the amazing donor turnout for President Elect Obama while he was campaigning, and his skillful use of the internet to expand the reach of his campaign.
He rants about the auto industry and their efforts to get a piece of the bailout pie without taking responsibility for the need to change their practices and management (and flying in to testify in a private jet). Let us know what you think in the comments! |

Diana Schneider....take your negativity somewhere else...I hear McCain and Palin have some free time.Maybe they would be willing to listen to your negative comments. In the meantime, lets see what great things HRC will do.

The help for the auto industry needs to come from the oil industry. I'm tired of busting my butt, paying my due taxes light a good American citizen so my government can mis use it by buying out bad debts from greedy SOB's

I find it bizarre that care2 seems to have a lot of members bent on attacking Obama over spurious claims.

I agree with Debroah Ep. I belive very strongly in hybrid and sloar vehicles. We need to get away fro gas. What appeals me is the chairman rick waggoner refuses to walk away from gm and says it wouldn't make a difference. Thia is the same man who is flying in on fancy jets and having expensive dinners. I say we need new ceos for the big 3.

what on earth does Bill & Hillary Clinton have to do with this discussion?
Still bitter about the WONDERFUL 8 years we had under his presidency? with a surplus i might add.
so? he wasnt faithful to his wife, big deal, he was good for this country and THATS what counts. He was caught because there was a witch hunt and they had it out for him from day 1...i wonder how many other politicians were unfaithful? they just didnt get caught...THAT is a personal matter, not a national crisis like what we are facing now...
get over it already...we arent even out of the failed Bush years yet, lets focus on the failure at hand, not the witch hunt of the past. Hillary will be great for this Nation, she knows how to be a diplomat, which is a word BUSH HAS NEVER EVEN SAID...LET ALONE HAVE A CLUE OF HOW TO USE IT IN A SENTENCE OR EVEN KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS...
these CEO's make me SICK!! they need to be taught a lesson, unload them and save the workers and their jobs!

They've had their chances and they've gotten the money. Now it's time to restart the engines with a TOTALLY NEW DESIGN. That means new management completely, just like we have a new president. Don't throw good money after bad with a "bailout". No.

I agree with Deborah EP. The auto makers have been guilty of greed and power-mongering for years. As long as I can remember, they have ignored the needs of the public, including making unsafe vehicles, in order to line their pockets. The audacity of flying into Washington in gas-guzzling private jets with a tin cup in their hands when millions of Americans are out of work and struggling just to pay their bills, this isn't just an insult to the American people; it's criminal. I say no bailout, no way.

Michael Moore has suggested, the big 3 auto industry get back on track with major restructuring. This must require them to shift completely over to energy saving vehicle production - plus having them produce a new wave of energy efficient mass transit methods. The personal jets should be sold, & all upper management pay be cut down to at most a six figure income. Then & only then should the government even consider this bailout. The stipulations have to be very strict & there must be a government over-site board in place to be sure the big 3
follow the regulations to the T. If not, then the companies must in no uncertain terms be taken over, by other executives who will show the integrity required to get the job done in a manner which is in line with the best interest of our country & it's economy.
Power, greed & corruption are behind so much of what has created the mess we're in that it must be stopped & turned around if we are to come out of this as a stronger nation.
No longer can these company executives be allowed to live off the backs of others, to fund their extravagant lifestyles, while the workers can barely pay their bills,& mortgages or send their kids to college.
This also needs to be done with the other major industries in this country & around the world, like the oil, gas, & chemical companies, the food & pharmaceutical industries, etc.
The time for change & a sustainable future is now, for all of

US automakers - the workers had no hand in the mismanagement and shouldn't have to suffer. Plus
save one of the last products that can claim - made in the USA - by an AMERICAN COMPANY. Where is
our pride?????????????
