Valeria & others who have limited time to watch the convention, tape it on C-span 1. After struggling Monday & Tuesday through hours & hours of CNN's mostly boring commentary, instead of coverage of what was happening on stage, last night I tivo-ed the C-span coverage from about 5 PM to midnight. It was wonderful-- just coverage of the action, as if you were there, no commentary, etc. I could then fast-forward through speechs I didn't wish to hear, etc. It covered the roll call & absolutely everything. From The Swamp... It's official. Sen. Barack Obama is now formally the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party. History has been made in Denver as the senator from Illinois becomes the first African-American to become the official nominee of a major political party. As planned, Sen. Hillary Clinton, once Obama's rival for the presidential nomination, asked that the convention stop the roll call and accept Obama as the party's nominee by acclamation or voice vote. A loud roar of approval went up and Obama was made the nominee. From MOMocrats... Hillary Clinton came out representing New York minutes ago and proclaimed that her state was giving all of their votes to Senator Obama, then she called for an affirmation to suspend the roll call and vote as one body to support Barack Obama as president. Nancy Pelosi asked for a second, there were hundreds, and she asked for a vote, the house roared, and she announced he is the official nominee of the Democratic party. We've made history. The first woman Speaker of the House announced it and the first viable woman candidate for president did her duty for the good of the party and the country. Goose bumps... Some didn't want it to happen at all, and others want to have it cut-off before it is even finished. Personally, I think the Democratic party owes it to the voters to complete this roll call, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. From McClatchy Election 2008 Blog... Remember the good old political convention days, when the roll call of the states was the highlight of the convention? Good luck finding the roll call Wednesday. A roll call is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. MDT, dinner time back east. It's not clear how many states will participate--even delegates aren't being told. This much is known: At some point, a Hillary Clinton supporter will move to nominate Barack Obama, probably unanimously, and that will be it. Just don't ask who will do it or when. Based on a review of a wide number of sources (some off the record, most on) here is my best understanding of what is taking place before the Convention is called to order today and the roll call held. Go here for the official schedule of the day. According to that schedule, the roll call will be held in the first hour of the first session of today, between 3 and 4 p.m. mountain time. The schedule does not disclose what is happening this morning and early afternoon with the delegates. As best as I can judge, what is going on is that the delegates are being rounded up state by state for a caucus-like (?!?) process, headed by Obama campaign staff it seems. At these sessions delegates are being required to express their preference for Senator Clinton or Senator Obama, with the understanding that these preferences will then be disclosed on the floor of the convention. From Washington Wire... The vote will continue until all states have voted, or until a motion is put forward to give Obama the nomination by acclamation. Already, New Jersey has agreed to unanimously back Obama. Each delegation held informal vote counts at their daily breakfast meetings. The Obama and Clinton camps are being mum on the exact proceedings�"although everything on the convention floor is tightly scripted. But Democratic officials have expressed doubts all week that the full roll call vote would occur. From MyDD... I'm here at the Denver Convention Center where hundreds (thousands?) of Clinton delegates are lined up to see Hillary Clinton address them prior to today's roll call vote. Earlier today delegates began casting ballots and, according to The AP, "Clinton delegates are moving toward Obama." A swell of Hillary Rodham Clinton delegates said they were casting their presidential nominating votes for Barack Obama on Wednesday, encouraged by her speech urging them to fall in line behind the party's certain nominee.The delegates received their ballots at stage delegation breakfast meetings. A roll call vote was scheduled for later in the afternoon after brief nominating speeches for both Clinton and Obama. The former rivals negotiated a plan that would cut off the split roll call after a few states -- perhaps by Clinton herself -- in favor of acclamation for Obama. I was so proud to witness this historical event and so pleased with Hillary's decision to release her delegates. The energy of the Democratic party is swelling and I believe the speech that Hillary gave greatly contributed to this force that will not be stopped. Go Dems!

Oprah has backed Obama before 2000, they are both members of the same church- That church is racist, opposite to the kkk, but worst! Proof on youtube! Oprah produced the Movie "The great Debater" with Denzel Washington and Timed the movie to hit when Hillary was campiagning - that aided in 92 percent of all black voters to vote for Obama. I once had great respect for Hilliary, but after what she did at the DNC- I am sorry I have no respect for her or Bill Con!- THEY sold out! Her debt is paid at our expense.
I will never again vote for her NEVER! SHE CANNOT BE TRUSTED! After hearing her words Obama is ready, blah, blah, A freshman senator with no expericence, and a backgroud such as his. This will be the first time over 50 years that I will not vote Democrat. Obama has a far too questionable past and lacking in experience for my support. This will probably be the first time in my voting life that I will support no presidential candidate.

The democrats will stoop at nothing! As I watched Obama’s convention and then Hillary’s speech NOW SUPPORTING HIM, I felt like throwing up! Then Bill Clinton’s speech NOW SUPPORTING HIM! It is a well-known fact that Bill hated Obama and Oprah. Her and Bill sold out to pay Hillary’s 20 million dollar debt that she owes to the Democratic Party. How low can one go! JOE BIDEN IS a CROOK WITH 36 YEARS IN CONGRESS and when he ran for president at the primaries he received less that 2 percent of the votes. Then OBAMA PICKS HIM AS A RUNNING MATE…HILLARY HAD TO EAT SHIT TO PAY BACK HER DEBT! I have no respect for this woman what so ever and take a good look at Bill Con.
Obama is a non-voting Illinois freshman senator- the only accomplishments he achieved is with the black community and of course his racist church of over 20 years… As a senator, he was not doing his job! How can people be that stupid not to check his voting records? I cannot believe this has gone this far, since when is congress a Hollywood production! Wasteful government spending, most expensive campaigning in the history of congress between Obama and Hillary. Their won’t be any CHANGE IN MY POCKET LEFT!
It is evident how much the Democratic Party cares about the American people and it is evident what change is…this is the biggest screw job of the century! If by a narrow escape this blasphemy gets threw the door, you bet we will all pay for this

I can't understand why people are so upset over Obama running for president? He is the best candidate to run and will be the best president by far. I believe that because he is black, people will not vote for him. Look past his color and see his character. I will vote for Obama in the fall and I hope you will too. The convention was very inspiring and I hope that the Democrats will unify themselves and do what is best for the party and back Obama.
