Skyrocketing Gas Prices + Fear = Billions for Big Oil
|
May 13, 2008 -- Posted by Catherine Morgan
The last eight years have been a classic example of the tail wagging the dog. And even when the Bush administration (aka, the tail) is gone, the lessons will live on forever. Not only will our government continue to run like a well oiled propaganda machine, but the most powerful industries that we are forced to rely on will have mastered the art of deception, manipulation, and cover-up. So, you probably want to know what this has to do with gas prices? Let me tell you... Fear, fear, fear, fear, fear, fear. Fear has blinded us to the manipulation. Crisis, crisis, crisis, crisis, crisis. A continuing crisis, after crisis, after crisis, fosters a perpetual state of fear. The gas crisis, the health care crisis, the crisis that is our economy, and the biggest crisis of all...the war. We are living in a paradigm of fear. Actually, to be more accurate...We have been (very cleverly) locked into a paradigm of fear. The oil and gas industry is using our fear of higher gas prices, to lull us into complacency and into trusting them. Here is an ad they are currently running that illustrates what I am talking about. This is from The Wonk Room... The American Petroleum Institute (API), the trade organization for the oil and natural gas industry, has just begun running a feel-good commercial that argues "America's future" lies in drilling out domestic reserves of oil and natural gas off our coasts, in our western lands, and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The "facts" in Big Oil's ad are based on a thirty-six page API document entitled, "The Truth About Oil and Gasoline." This "primer" was published last week, with numerous figures and charts on oil company profits and gas prices, but nary a single mention of climate change or greenhouse gas emissions. Here are the facts Big Oil left out: Future With 45% More Oil And Gas Demand Involves 60% More Global Warming Emissions. The projection of "45% more by 2030" gas and oil demand is drawn from the International Energy Agency's (IEA) World Energy Outlook 2007 report. The API accurately describes the increase in global oil and gas demand in the IEA's business-as-usual scenario, although United States demand is only projected to increase by less than 5%. However, API fails to mention the business-as-usual scenario also predicts energy-related carbon emissions would "increase by almost 60%" by 2030. The ad's tag line, "Together, we can secure America's future," mimics the We Campaign climate activism spot that concludes: "Together, we can solve the climate crisis." The path Big Oil envisions even as warning signs increase would instead destroy the future of America and the rest of the planet. Also See: So, why is the oil and gas industry doing this? Because they can. And because our fear is putting billions and billions of $$$$ in their pockets. |

Solve 5 Major problems in one move.
1.)Fuel
2.)Co2 and chemical polution
3.)Preserve environment
4.)Cost of corn =
5.)Cost of Beef
Instead of removing all sugar cane from
hawaii (they say Korea can make sugar cheeper)and putting a bunch of resorts
up wher the cane is now,Hawaii could be
the U.S.A.'s major renewable fuel source.
Instead of raising the cost of corn feed
for cattle (Raising the cost of Beef)
Instead of Burning the cane fields causing TONs of polutants to pour into the atmosphere. Cane yields far more
ethanol than corn per acre and you won't have to burn it anymore to harvest.
Hawaii doesn't need any more resorts
to further its status as the extinction capitol of the world.

I too am a skeptic when it comes to anything an energy company and the government has to say.
My take on it is along with alternative fuels AMERICANS MUST USE LESS. People in this country must practice self-restraint. I've seen families run themselves broke purchasing a large car that they cannot afford to fuel, yet they would "rather be broke with a nice car than look poor."
It's stupidity and stupid pride like this that will be the downfall of gluttonous (sp?) americans who will take the ones who care down with them.

I am so disgusted by all of the excuses used to keep using oil as our main source for fuel, such as we don't have enough fields to supply ethonal, or we don't want to run electric cars. The problem lies in the fact that the oil companies want to continue to make a profit from the American People. It's not "FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE" It's we vote them in and they do what they want. When do we get to put a bill to congress to change how things are done! Shouldn't we as Americans have the right to voice how we feel? These politicans spend tons of money on insignificant things when it could be used to better America as a whole community instead of misused.
Thank you.
Thank you.

To continue: EVERYTHING Bush does,
is based on the subsidity he gets from
Big Oil. Until that is understood we are all lost!

President Bush Put things in his proposal
to congress that were backhanded attempts
re-rout money in a way that would be more dammaging to the economy than the high gas prices at the time. He knew that congress would never pass those bills with those conditions attached to them. The only reason he submited them is because he knew they would never pass. That is why congress shot him down Get YOUR
facts straight! Bush and Bush senior have been in Exxon Mobils pocket since
before George senior was in office.

All of this is happening because it
is impossible to get enough of
"We The People" together to actually make
a difference. Bush and the oil companies know this. You wouldn't believe how many ordinary people think Bush is the greatest President of all time.
It boggles the mind! The Oil companies
Know that they can absolutely COUNT on the fact that 40% or more of Americans
think (in spite of their wallets)that
Bush is just awesome and that oil prices
are up because there really is a shortage. These people are stubborn Bush
devotees in spite of the fact that they are barely getting by on meanial jobs.
and they will argue for him till the end of time. I am afraid (Really afraid) that
as long as those people are out there
we can kiss our hopes for a real
"We The People" government, Goodbye.
The Oil Companies (Litterally) own the world. Hey when they can afford to Pay
a president to ignore the terrorists they
funded, to kill 3000 people on US. soil
so they could justify building another
base to control middle east oil that they
previously did not control, They must own
enough of the world to manipulate ANYTHING!

The spokes person on there called it the Enron loop hole. It was passed in 2002 at the end of the day in the Senate. They basicly deregulated it.
When I heard that I thought we are in for a tough ride here. Remember what happened to Enron.
The spokes person said that it doesn't matter how much oil gets put into the system, the price is going to go higher.
It's funny Hillary mentioned this a few weeks ago.
