It depends on the kid and the books...My daughter loves to read but is so busy with school and sports that she doesn't have too much time. My son has the time but does not enjoy reading...

Lets not get fixated on a number. The child might have a few favourite books that they want to read over and over I know I do.
We need to show our kids how pleasurable reading can be. Take them to the library often and let them read at their own pace.
