I used to take a stack of books home from my weekly trip to the public library. Never bothered keeping count of books I read (but I've often wished I'd kept a reading diary). I'm grateful to have grown up in a reading household.

I'm also in favor of children who re-read their favorite books many times. It's just as good for them, even if it means they've only got round to 25 new books by the end of the year.

It depends on the book & the reading level of the child.
