I'd have a hard time agreeing to hate speech.

disagree.....lies, vulgarity directed at someone, and "hate speech" should not protected......especially since all 3 are usually related....

freedom doesn't mean you don't have can have free speech as long as its responsible.....this is why you cannot yell "fire" in a crowded movie theatre/store/etc.....

I don't think vulgarity or hate speech should be protected.

Not the 'most offensive' as it can incite hatred and violence.

Hate speech and speech that can get people killed can be a dangerous thing. Vilifying a group of people until some weak-minded crazy person goes and kills a few has happened.

There was a guy who went into a "liberal" church and started shooting people. He blamed his failures on this group ("liberals"). They found tons of books by Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and the like in his house.

I believe in free speech, but just as you are not allowed to yell "fire" in a crowded theater if there is no fire, you are also not allowed to incite violence with your speech. It's a responsibility.
