I have no problem with the government using surveillance cameras in public places. When you are in public there is no expectation of your actions not being visible to others.

We saw in the Boston Marathon bombing case what happens when public cameras go wrong. There are two young men whose lives will never be the same because they were falsely accused. That said, eventually they got it right, and the real bombers were caught and killed.
