I think nuclear power is probably better, but in the sense "lesser of two evils" sense. I'm not completely convinced we even know the kinds of pollution or damage nuclear power entails. I hope I'm wrong.

No, even thogh that seems to be the trend here in Finland, unfortunately.

They will reduce carbon emissions but I am not convinced that either fusion of fission is safe. The question of what to do with the waste has not been adequately answered.

i would say i probably don't know enough about it. do i support nuclear power in general...no... but greenhouse effects are also very bad. i need to get educated on this one.

There is an economically feasible way to clean up nuclear waste using bacteria. It is being done in the U.K. That being said, if we were to use that process, nuclear power plants would be a wonderful solution. We need to make serious changes in the way we produce power if we are to have an earth that our grandchildren can live on safely. Nuclear power plants are one good option, along with wind and solar.

They're safe they just need to be set up right and the French have designed a system that prevents the chances of a meltdown. So why not?

What makes you think we don't know how to handle nuclear waste ?

And what makes you think nuclear accidents should be so hard to recover from - The worst nuclear "accidents" in history are probably the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and those cities are still inhabited thriwing cities today.

In the US you can visit Trinity site two days each year and see for yourself what the ecosystem looks like where a nuclear bomb has been activated.
