To deliberately purchase them, yes. To feed and rescue ferals who are starving and dying, no. How can you turn away someone in need? They are dying! Peta feels that you should not have a pet if you can not offer it a "perfect" life. Who among us has that? Real life is filled with individuals who are starving, injured, suffering from worms, and disease. Poor people share what they have. Why should an animal suffer and die because it cannot be a pampered pet? The alternative of the little old lady having 30 cats is them being destroyed at a "shelter" or starving on the streets, or facing death under the wheels of a car. Mother Teresa took in the sick and dying because they were God's children. Some people take in sick and dying cats because they are God's creatures. I see no difference. Jesus was born in a booth erected to shelter animals. His first crib was a manger. He came not only to save mankind from their sins, but to save animals as well, from the brutal slaughter and sacrifice that has been practiced by man for thousands of years. As long as there are sick and starving animals in need of shelter and food, there will be those who are willing to take them in. They are the saviors who answer the call of God. They open their doors when there is "no room at the inn." Real life is filled with pain, and sickness and sorrow. Some people turn their faces and say "Oh, poor thing!" Other roll up their sleeves and get to work. God bless them. What if God decided He had too many?
