I don't think he was racist, but I do feel the disrespect that he showed toward President Obama had undertones of racism.

Probably just out of stupidity.

I agree with Nancy M.: not all criticism of African-Americans are necessarily racism. It was, however, very rude.

Of course not.

That doesn't meant though that there aren't racists out there who are opposed to Obama. Criticism of an African-American is not racist necessarily.

It may not have been rooted in racism, but it definitely supports racist ideals and supports the formation of new racist ideals.

Robert, I was using the Monsanto stuff as an example because he had total control over that decision and it shocked many of his supporters, at least the ones I know. The overall point I was trying to make is that there seems to be a very different President than candidate and I was curious how much peoples trust has changed based on things over the past few months. Wilson was being a jerk, which I expect of politicians (the one area where I maintain cynicism).

Pushing through the health bill with the abortion language would also seem to directly contradict what one would have expected from both the President and his party. We could go on, remember ending division in Washington, transparency, bills available 72 hours before voting, etc.

Thanks for the link on the Monsanto/Pest issue.

Paul,
Obama has made and continues to make some decisions that are very disturbing for one reason and another. However, I think a claim that the Monsanto/Pest appointments somehow bear out Joe's statement is a stretch even without an attempt to give Obama credit for the abortion amendment added to the insurance bill in the house.

Those interested in doing something about the Mont/Pest appointments can go here...not that it will necessarily change anything. One can only try.
