I'm so glad I live in Canada. We don't even have to pay for surgery, let alone hospital rooms. You can be poor and living in the streets and still get quality health care.

Are you kidding me? You have to pay for operations, maybe, but you shouldn't have to pay for a room. It's not a hotel, for god's sake.

I live in Canada so I don't have that problem, but I think it's HORRIBLE that some people in other countries have to pay to get the help that they need to live. Health care should really be free!

Our system is trembling and all are seen too when going to a hospital. I choose to have private insurance and have done for all my working life. You can be seen in outpatients but if needed to be hospitalized then a room is needed. Usually if you cant pay you go to a ward with others in it, if you can pay then you have a choice, either outpatients or to go private. When its private its instant if its out patients there might be a waiting list for a room. The worse cases are housed however, there are some who finish on trolleys b/c of the over abundance of patients or lack of beds one OR nurses to care for the patients.

My boyfriend is recoving from double bypass and was placed on a restricted diet while in the hospital. Regular food was horriable enough before they tampered with his. He had difficulty proving to them he was able to eat without getting sick, just was running for cover from the food! He was also in ICU for several days and I do believe that they could have done a better job in cleaning while he was there! Hell, they had trouble charting the time they gave him meds, the amount of meds given, and wither or not they had given them! Surely we need better service while in the hospital for what they do charge!

Ever had to eat hospital food? They should pay people for exposing them to that toxic mess.

The point in a hospital is that professionals have determined that the individual needs care beyond home care. So hospitals charge for the use of the facility, but by doing so they should be required to supply clean (And I do mean Clean) rooms and beds, lots of nursing care, medications on time, and food that will not make pigs run for cover.

People tend to abuse what comes for free, however there should be a provision for those who really can not afford treatment.

Hospitals have been over charging for years and none of us can quite believe that the cost of the room is included at a fair rate. We know that it takes money to heat, cool, and light a hospital as well as to run the many machines that are in ICU and other parts of the hospital. The main complaint is we feel that we are being over charged with every little thing that the hopital can think of to charge for.

If I were going in for something that was cosmetic and NOT RECONSTRUTIVE surgery then I would expect to pay for the level of care offered. That would also mean a nicer private room, and the works.

I see most people who voted on this one are on welfare!
I guess you would like a room at the Ritz for free too!
