Maybe disasters are more important, but this is an issue that doesn't require vasts amount of money to fix. Just get it out of the way already!

Diane,
I completely agree with you. I didn't mean to imply that civil rights is a minor issue. It isn't.

But there are only so many things any one person can put on their plate at any given time. And Obama's plate is overflowing, imo.

I get my braces off next month, and in support of gay (equal) rights, my upper retainer is going to be a neon rainbow. My lower retainer is going to be neon hot pink. And I've been married to my husband for almost 13 years.

So, with that, and all the posts I've written here, I hope anyone can see that I take civil rights very seriously.

Perhaps what someone needs to do is put a measure on the ballot that reverses the words, sort of like what you said:

"Hetersexuals should have ALL of the same rights as homosexuals; no more and no less.
{} yes
{} no

The text would say that either we give homosexuals all the rights heterosexuals have, or we take away current rights to make hetersexual rights equal to homosexual rights.

So long as people in power believe that full equality for all Americans is a minor issue, it will remain less important than floods, famines, demented shooters, and corporate bail-outs. I repeat: If heterosexuals suddenly lost the 1200 plus rights afforded to them, there would be riots in the streets. What would we call it? Domestic terrorism or civil war?

Right now, there ARE more important issues that need to be addressed, i.e. protecting our nation from threats and violence, domestic and foreign.

I am so terribly sad about the soldiers who opened fire on their fellow soldiers today in Fort Hood. 2 of those soldiers, who opened fire, were getting ready to ship out.

There would be no point in fighting for civil rights if our country fell to terrorists.

I am quite willing to wait for civil rights fights until our country stabilizes a little bit more.

Loving Thoughts to Fort Hood victims and their families and friends.

What issues in America are more important than the civil rights of her citizens? If heterosexuals suddenly lost the more than 1200 federally protected marriage rights, there would be riots in the streets. Two wars and a weak economy would barely get noticed.

The president is married to a woman. That makes him hetro. Therefore the LGB community aren't really much to do with him! Different matter if was Gay or Bi.

What happened to ending the "Don't ask, don't tell" that Clinton caused? A stroke of the pen by Obama can end this stupid embarassing bill that should never have been existing. Clinton should have outlawed anti gay military rules., If Bush can kill Habea Corpus this way why can't Obama end this discrimination NOW, we're losing soldiers for nothing this way and unfortunately due to an illegal war in Iraq we've lost many. We take drug addicts and high school drop outs, but we can't have a GLTB in the armed services? How stupid are these people who delay what should be a discrimination law that most employers already have to follow, why not the Government? Goodness knows senators have been gay and no one asked them.'Don't tell".How can these gay senators not vote this bill in right now, why wait? Obama needs to talk less and do what he promised or he'll destroy the party and he'll ONLY be knwon as the first black president, who accomplished nothing real. The LEAST he should do is pass this Bill NOW! It's a human issue.

Come on now there are more important issues to deal with.
Our economy, for example is based on waste and competition. If we change just that maybe people would stop hating, wasting just so people buy more, make everyone fight over available jobs that are all becoming non existent anyway. Our Economy should support knowledge and abundance rather then scarcity, competition, and waste(cyclical consumption as economics refurs to it as).
Truly some of these issues would vanish just from the removal of competition.

Rebecca,
"I'm so sick of Satan trying to make everyone feel as if they are the ones that are wrong for wanting to maintain family values and for believing in Gods word."

I don't think I have ever heard ANYONE try to make ANYONE feel guilty for "maintain(ing) family values and for believing in Gods word" in their own home or with others who believe the same things.

I do think you should feel guilty for teaching hatred and intolerance.

"...go ahead with your ranting. You don't anger me like I anger you..."

It seems to me, dear Rebecca, that not only are you the only one ranting, but you are also the only one who sounds angry.

And if you think that satan is feeding you thoughts of guilt, once again, you might ask yourself "what would Jesus do?"

"I'm so sick of Satan trying to make everyone feel as if they are the ones that are wrong for wanting to maintain family values and for believing in Gods word."

That cracked me up.
If I even believed in the existence of Satan, I'd sooner believe that he was acting through people like you, Rebecca, who condemn innocent people for loving the whoever they were born to love. There are millions more of us who will never "approve" of your hatred.
