I tried to wash my hands more and avoid many public places. Now when I'm vaccinated I'm not worried.

Exactly. I remember that too. And at the time, I said, "This is goofy. They cannot predict that there will be an epidemic of a certain new flu next year -- especially when the flu has not mutated and produced the new deadly strain yet. They can't possibly know what is going to happen next year."

The government and medical big-wigs conducted a big campaign to make a vaccine and get everyone innoculated, and it was a big bust. Literally: more people died from the swine flu vaccine than died from the swine flu.

Now the powers that be are telling us that they won't make that mistake again. But the FDA had to issue a waiver to allow the vaccine to be distributed before it was actually tested for safety and efficacy.

So they are distributing an untested vaccine.

I'm not impressed, and I'm not getting any more flu shots, ever. (Oh, I only got one seasonal flu shot, ever, about 4 years ago, and it gave me the flu.)

I said No. I remember such a vaccine caused dreaded GB Syndrome resulting in more deaths due to vaccination than the disease in the past and had to be withdrawn from the market. Globally, Flu is a milder disease, seldom a killer.

I answered yes because I am doing a few little odds and ends things, like taking vitamin pills and taking care of my health. But I'm not doing anything major, except for one thing that actually happened accidentally.

The biggest thing that I have done is let the local wild Canadian Geese infect me with everything that they have. No joke. I have probably already gotten some strain of Avian Flu from them, by feeding them bread and letting them get their saliva all over my hands, and into the occasional scratch. They get all excited when I'm feeding them bread, and occasionally overdo the grabby routine. (They are actually so tame that they will eat out of my hands. Calling them wild may be a misnomer. They are free, but not very wild.)

My logic is that neither Avian Flu nor Swine Flu are totally unique and original viruses. Each sprang from a precursor that was not as infectious or dangerous. And Swine Flu is actually a strange combination of pig flu, bird flu, and human flu. And if I get infected with those less-dangerous things, it is like a vaccination against the other varieties of similar viruses. I figur3e that my immune system is pretty darned good, and letting it have a taste of those bugs just prepares it for nastier stuff.

Anyway, that's my logic and my preparation, and so far, it's working. With me luck.

I answered "yes" because I am mindful of washing my hands frequently when I'm in public.

Sometimes i think this, If your gonna get it , your gonna get it, no matter what you do !! cause i know for a fact that i always washed my hands when therre was a virus going around at work and I still would end up getting that darn virus!! I worked in health care and we had meetings and everything about hand washing so you don't get sick or spread the virus and i would do it all just like they said and end up getting it!! I think washing your hands help and i still do it and clean with bleach and all that stuff but i still think if your exposed to it you still have a chance getting it, whatever it is.

For anybody interested, I just saw a report on TV the other night stating scientists say antioxidant especially blueberries could be the clue to preventing the flu, more studies needed.

Other than the usual- washing hands, taking vitamins etc- how is anyone supposed to actively take precautions (outside of barricading yourself and your family in the house during flu season) when ~no vaccine is available~? It would be nice to have that option, more for my son's sake than my own.

I'm not sure how much validity there is to this but it may be worth checking out. I does make one think...and Facebook wont allow me to post it to my page...censorship

I answered other because I have always washed my hands frequently, made sure I didn't cough or sneeze in people's faces and steered clear of people who are coughing and sneezing. However, I have no intention of getting that shot because there is way too much talk about it and it's too hard to tell who's lying. Besides, there don't seem to be any shots to get.
