I can get my rice from elsewhere. It's really not worth taking a chance.

There is no way to know what the long term effects will be, if any, from consuming any produce which has been grown is soil which has been irradiated to such a degree as the soil effected by the nuclear disaster in Japan. But, giving due consideration to radiation's ability to cause mutation to DNA, and the fact that it is likely that anything grown in that region will be radioactive for an extraordinarily long time to come, it would be quite foolish to tempt fate. While I have already had my children, and therefore would not be concerned with potential birth defects, mutation of the bodily cells does occur, and there are a number of nasty little ailments, including cancer, which one would have to consider when making the choice to eat or not to eat. I was a Licensed Vocational (Practical) Nurse and my educated opinion is that eating anything grown from such irradiated soil carries far too many risks.

Even Japan imports so much rice from other areas it is a minimal international issue. The Japanese market may have to debate this issue and needs to seriously consider the ramifications of the nuclear pollution but this is a regional issue that can be avoided by the world at large...at least for now

No way. Rice is grown in so many other countries that you don't need to rely on Japan.
