Many developing countries can little afford the cost of fighting deforestation. Especially when one considers the fact that there is now a new type of poacher. One that cuts down the trees to feed their key for charcoal! Such incentives are necessary in an economy as sick as our current economy.

Yes, because without an alternative source of income these countries will continue to exploit their forested areas for the cash which the timber and crop plantations industries bring in.
