Being "young at heart" refers to being hopefilled, idealistic, able to learn, unafraid, not cynical, capable of trust and uncalculated affection, resilient, viewing an unlimited future, being curious, sleeping when tired, feeding when hungry, moving in a free/spontaneous & unselfconscious manner. These are all a great way to "feel to the very end the thrill of being alive"* and not wasting the precious opportunity of being a sentient being.

Yes, if you want a long and healthy life, I think it's important to feel alive, energetic, and happy. Who wants to "feel" aged, no matter his/her chronological age?
