I don't think lying and cheating are necessary to get ahead in society. I do, however, believe that in many instances they do aid in the process. I don't do either.
Well ... it depends on what one means by "lie and cheat." For example, I'm going around making comments and noncomments on polls and news articles so I can earn butterfly points and then give stuff like food and water to kids. In a way, I'm lying and cheating, because I don't really give a flying f**k on most of the things on which I'm posting ... I'm just doing it for the points. But, then again, I'm making valid comments ... I see a lot of people saying stuff like "Noted," which I assume means they're doing the same thing. And then, it's not like you can do anything for yourself with these points, so are you trying to further yourself in society? But, in any case ... I dunno. Good question.
I was actually told that I would need to sacrifice my morals to get ahead in life, by family members no less! I would never. My principles, soul and conscience are a heck of a lot more important to me than any job. Jobs are temporary and you're always expendable. Be true to yourself because you only have one life to live, do it right the first(and only) time.
