Would the ending of animal suffering occur if everyone converted to a vegan or vegetarian diet, or would there suddenly become a massive overpopulation or surplus of animals which would then need to be cared for, fed, sheltered, nutured, etc. I suspect, as with many other questions or wishes wished for, the human mind hasn't really thought through the consequences of what an action entails...

Contraception is our only saving grace--just too many people+too much food thrown away.

I tried going on a vegetarian diet years ago, and ended up being ill, so I had to revert back to eating meat. One has to remember that the entire planet is one big eating factory, in that different classes of beings eat one another to survive. The only major difference is in how a being is killed by another for its food, and humans seem to be one of the very rare species that kill for fun and trophy hunting, which is barbaric, and part of the strange distorted world of the ego.

I wish it would be that easy.
