Might help, might not. But Earth has a carrying capacity of about 20 billion, if we were more efficient about distribution.

it would help, as we would be feeding less food to animals that we slaughter, and that land could be used to grow more fruits and vegetables...there is plenty of food in the world, its more a matter of whether the powers that be and the powerful multinational agricultural corporations would actually let it happen
