My father instilled in me an appreciation for the natural world at a young age, and continues to nurture it even past his death. My earliest memories are from around age four or so, and my appreciation includes all flora and fauna. I learned appreciation for nature not only from things Dad told me, but also by the way he lived his life - by example.

I realized very young that even insects are necessary, and fascinating, and deserve a place in this world. As I got older, I realized my responsibility for doing what I personally can to insure that the world in which we live - which is not ours to subjugate nor destroy - remains healthy and vital for generations to come. There are myriad things we can do every day, without having to go big, that have a huge, beneficial impact on the natural world.
