It should be monitored, junk food with a lot of salt for example should be portioned and basically all foods should be monitored for salt and sugar

Parents need to take charge of developing their child(ren) taste for food for life. Training them at a young age for salt, sweet & fatty food is the harbinger for a poor diet as an adult.
