Many of us have seen it happen in our lifetimes.

If you weren't alive to see Gandhi, maybe you saw Martin Luther King.

If you weren't alive to see Martin Luther King, maybe you saw Solidarnosc in Poland, People Power in the Philippines, the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia, and the Singing Revolution in Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia.

If you weren't paying attention to those, maybe you saw the fall of the Berlin Wall.

And though it was before our time, it was nonviolent action by the suffragists that got the vote for women in the United States not quite 100 years ago.
