Perhaps, although, I think it's more assuming they're not as caring because they're rich. It seems to be well known at least in Britain that the poorest are the most generous of spirit. If a rich person donates £100 he isn't going to miss to charity, is he more generous and caring than a poor person living on a tight budget who donated £5? I assume most rich people are out of touch with suffering.
