I think grade 3 is a bit young for formal sex education. Maybe my grandchildren aren't typical, but my 8 year old grandson (3rd grade age) knows the terms, but doesn't show an interest in what they are used for except to urinate. He hasn't even questioned how pregnancy is instigated. He knows how babies come out by watching the farm animals, but has asked how they get in there so why push it. I think 10 years old is soon enough to go into detail.
