My birdfeeders are natural ones: trees-for-birds. They feed them right in time. I add a little something from times to times, but imho the best way is to plant the good trees, and let the birds do their shopping according to their specie's needs.

Yes especially when they're nesting. The fledglings can use the help of feeders. When nesting ends the birds come less to our feeders so I don't put out suet & feed them "lighter".
