I really do wish there were more biking lanes where I live. On the other hand when I am driving, I get a little nervous passing someone in the bike lane.

Yes, but it probably depends on the city. I'm guessing Nome, Alaska isn't going to see a lot of bicycle commuter traffic during any season.
