my opinion, #1 problem is politicians who think they have the answers and don't have the experience in education or experience actually working/visiting struggling schools......

Absolutely not! You will always have some poor teachers but the majority of them go above and beyond to educate our children. The system needs to be overhauled. That is where most of the problems are.

Sometimes. I used to use a green marker to correct my daughters' teachers corrections on her papers. Math problems had bad grammar. English teachers don't know punctuation. Let's face it, too many teachers teach so they can have summers off and work maybe 190 days per year. Most people work 250 days per year.
