Yes. They tax their parishioners through tithing and they use their money to influence politics.

I'd say a church should be able to exempt the first $X of donations to fund the maintenance of the facilities. And, of course, anything they use to support their community (food banks, homeless shelters, etc.) should be deductible Anything beyond that should be taxed.
