Despite its stealth and ability to adapt to human encroachment, the Leopard (Panthera pardus) is Endangered in nearly the entire extent of its range -- from Africa to south and south-east Asia. Leopards spend nearly their entire lives alone, preferring dense tropical forests and woodlands to the open savanna. Excellent hunters, Leopards often drag prey weighing 3 times their weight up into a tree to protect it from scavengers such as Lions and Hyenas.
