A Warthog (Phacochoerus aethiopicus) drinks from a watering hole in Tanzania. Warthogs live in savanna regions where they can dig for tubers and bulbs. Sows usually live in clans with several other females and their young. Warthogs feed during the day and sleep in burrows for protection from nightime predators. Mothers give birth to 2 to 5 piglets, which remain in their den for 6 to 7 weeks. Though hunted by lions, wild dogs and hyena, an adult Warthog with its large tusks can seriously injure an attacker.
