|Polar bears are at home on land and in the water. The scientific name of the polar bear is Ursus maritimus which means "sea bear". Polar bears are strong swimmers. As the Wager Bay ice breaks up in the spring, bears are often seen jumping from ice floe to ice flow. Polar bears have excellent underwater vision and can spot food up to 15 feet away. - photographer, Dan Guravich.|
