Every spring thousands of owls, hawks, and many other migratory birds funnel through Whitefish Point, a peninsula that juts northeastward into Lake Superior. In late April and early May several species of owls may be seen in the pines near the tip of the peninsula. Saw-whet owls are very tame and allow close approach.
