Known as Sagarmatha to the Nepalis, Mt. Everest is famous for being the highest peak in the world, with a height of 8,848 m (29,028 ft.). This view is of the west face of Mt. Everest as seen from the Ngozumpa Glacier.

The first successful attempt to the top was accomplished by Tenzing Norgay (Nepali) and Edmund Hillary (New Zelander) in 1953.
