Lost Burro Mine, 1999. Death Valley National Park, California.
This is a very recent photograph. I organized this image in a way that set the small shack as an integral part of the encompassing mountainous environment. I used a blue filter with Tri-X film in order to accentuate the brightness and haze of the mountains and support the brightness and fullness of desert light. The mountainous peaks reflect the shape of the rooftop on the shack, while the softness of the surrounding terrain contrasts intensely with the sharp, textured building.
