|I met this little boy at a "Lok Adalat meeting" in a remote rural corner of Gujarat, Northern India. "Lok Adalat" means "Open Court" - and helps the Adivasi settle problems by themselves instead of turning to costly, time consuming court proceedings in far away towns. The boy's parents had a land dispute to settle. The Adivasi, the indigenous inhabitants of India, once lived a nomad's life in balance with nature, but were forced to adopt farming, and have been marginalised and discriminated against by society.|
