"The East African Samburu tribe, cousins to the Maasai, are known for their colorful fabrics and outgoing personalities. On a visit to a tribal village one day, I spied this baby almost buried among the fabrics worn by the women who were vying for our attention. The children of this tribe are carried by their mothers until they are approximately two years old. I snapped several photos of this particular child and painted the image using a composite of the photos." - artist, Judy Downs.
