anonymous ACTION ALERT FROM OPEN DOORS! April 08, 2009 11:39 AM

Dear Donna,

Silence is Death for North Koreans
North Korea waits for your voice.

I’m sending you this urgent Action Alert because a critical bill will be introduced when Congress reconvenes that could directly impact the lives of Christians in North Korea.

I know it can feel like any effort to make a difference in the life of persecuted believers is just a small drop of good in an ocean of oppression and evil.
But your voice counts.  We have seen how God has used the advocacy ministry of Open Doors to make a difference in the lives of persecuted Christians worldwide.

As you know, North Korea continues to act as a rogue nation… as their recent firing of a missile against international law clearly demonstrated.  And they remain #1 on the Open Doors World Watch List as the most repressive country in the world against Christians.

The upcoing bill requires that North Korea should support human rights… including religious freedom… before the United States establishes diplomatic relations with them.

Passing this bill is critical if we are to ensure that the Obama Administration makes human rights a priority in their dealings with North Korea.  And that’s why I am asking you to make your voice heard today.

You can help by sending a message to your Representative asking them to sign the North Korea Sanctions and Diplomatic Nonrecognition Act of 2009.   To be effective, we need to get bi-partisan support for the bill and as many signatures as possible from members of Congress.

Please send your message today!

Thank you for making your voice heard on behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters in North Korea!

Dear Donna,
I have great news to share with you today and an urgent request.
The great news is this: Open Doors has been offered a $150,000 ch allenge grant to help provide desperately needed Bibles for China.

My urgent request is that you would help us meet this generous grant through your online gift today.

There is an urgency to my request for a number of reasons.

First, China continues to change. Since the Olympics, our contacts on the ground tell us the church is growing like wildfire, experiencing increasing religious freedom. In fact, an estimated 10,000 people are coming to Christ each day!

But in the midst of this growth and increasing freedom, we are getting reports that Christians are still being arrested and churches are being shut down in certain areas of the country. And we have evidence that the government continues to repress the distribution of Bibles.

One of our contacts recently reported:

"I was just in Shanghai and tried to purchase Bibles from the official church bookstore. This is supposed to be one of the main distribution centers in the whole of China. I was told that the most I could purchase was one box, but we need thousands. We will have to come up with another plan."

This plan involves you and me… and that's why I am so thankful for this challenge grant!

If we can fully meet this grant, we will be able to put 60,000 Bibles into the hands of needy believers. That’s just $5 per Bible for printing and distribution!

That’s why I am asking for your help… asking for the most generous online gift you can give.

It is crucial for us to move quickly. So thank you for sharing generously today.

MOROCCAN ISLAMISTS USE FACEBOOK TO TARGET CHRISTIANS: Moroccan Christians say Muslim extremists in the country are aiding and encouraging the government to pursue them by exposing and vilifying them on social networking site Facebook.  The online images depict Christian converts and their families from across the country and include details about their roles and activities in churches, their personal addresses and anecdotal stories attempting to malign them.  Read More>>    [ send green star]  [ accepted]
