Amnesty International undertakes research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.
Please don't start a new topic simply because this is a large group. If you have something to do with human rights.
It's important that we stay focused here on human rights violations.
AI has a strict mandate that must be adhered to in order to preserve the integrity of Amnesty. We must be discerning in our posts. I always recall the case of Nelson Mandela, who could not be adopted by AI because he had advocated violent resistance, no matter how popular his cause was. That is the way it has to be. Thanks for raising the issue, Kristi.
Even if you post a GOOD CAUSE, it will be deleted if it is off topic for this group.

AI serves a great purpose. There are other places where issues that don't fit with the principles of AI do fit and will be welcomed. Thanks, Kristi, for a reminder to all of us.
Unfortunately some people do post an item in several groups indiscimminately, simply because they belong to all those groups and they want to publicise their concern as widely as possibly - which, in itself, is admirable. However, many of the issues are not appropriate to AI and they serve only to diminish the important work that this group does - and discourages the posting of legitimate concerns. Perhaps their simply needs to be tighter control on what is posted here.
Andrew - I brought Kristi's attention to a poster doing what you mention (we may well be thinking of the same one) and she removed their posts from this AI group today. After several posts which were only links to their website articles, which were generally inappropriate in subject for this group anyway, their latest post was an ad for items that could be purchased from the same website. I think this situation may be what prompted her to give all of us a good reminder of the principles and purpose of Amnesty International.
Kristi - Thanks again.
Thank you. As others have said it was much needed. It seems some relevant issues have been brought up by posters and than suddenly the same poster is posting really off base topics. Unfortunately, I have certainly been seeing some of off topic concepts brought lately, even since this post was written. Andrew H. and Miranda L. have certainly hit the nail on the head about topics and there relevance to AI. Thank you once again.
I am sorry, but I do have to delete posts that are off topic.
Time to this again
