About Me 'I'm a site-specific extrovert; I really enjoy my me time. (courtesy of Mike Myers).' I have a not-so-secret life outside my job: I write. This is new to me as of a year and I love it. I am someone who mispronounces words that I have only read and not heard said aloud. I enjoy words and silences in equal measure. I ask a lot of questions and think aloud. I riff on life and science and art with my students and get a lift from it. I bring in art and writing whenever possible. I need to drop all the interfaces and just be in the world, toes in the sand, from time to time. I don't have a smartphone. I don't eat meat and am whittling away at not eating other animal products. I also don't keep score on anyone's eating. I've got integrity and am loyal. I can be very funny when things collide in my head and I let them out. I can overthink stuff but I can also stop. This is a good year for me and I'd like to meet some good people to go with it.

-By 'other' in religion, I simply mean I believe there is more than what meets the eye but don't have a label to my spirituality.

Wild Fact About Me I won the county spelling bee two years running in middle school and was the first student to do that in the history of the bee.
My Philosophy A reset can happen at any time- between one breath and another or during- taking the time to pay attention to the moment and start fresh any time. Not going off the rails with it- being accountable to my path- and taking care of myself in going where I need to go.
What Gives Me Hope What I see when I stop to look around and inside. Young people in my classroom. The ocean and the trees and the power of imagination. The growing no-kill movement in animal shelters.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by I think about Maslow's hierarchy- do people have what they need for survival? Clean water? Food? Shelter? Clothing? Safety? Then work on the upper tiers and quality of life. Is the quality life of one group lessening that of another?
What/who changed my life and why 'Boys Like Us', March 19th, 2016. A true solstice for me.
Quotation Do or do not, there is no try.

Oz didn't give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn't already have -America, Tin Man.
