Since I was a small child I've been surrounded by pets. My parents adopted our pets from a shelter and I became aware very young how many pets were without homes. As I got older I was determined to make a difference. For 16 years I've worked at rescuing animals in some form. I have worked with cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and several types of rodents getting them out of horrible conditions, and helping them find new homes with loving families. I've belonged to several rescue groups, and when not part of a group I've been quick to take in, vet, and place in good homes pets found dumped or roaming that no one has claimed. I have a deep love of all animals and intend to continue rescue work as I am able for the rest of my life. There is no love like that of an animal, the only creatures on the earth who love unconditionally. What more can I do but to try to return that love any way I can.

Wild Fact About Me At one time I heard of a guinea pig breeder who had a large number of guinea pigs kept in horrible conditions. I went there and most of the guinea pigs were in mud that had been shavings at one time. Over half of those guinea pigs had only small patches of hair do to their living conditions and mites. I purchased every guinea pig she would sell for around $300. Later I placed all but a few who lived out their lives with us. The one I have the most memories of was a gp called fat boy. He weighed 8lbs which is very large for a guinea pig and lived to be 9 yrs old. I still miss him and think of him fondly when I see a guinea pig.
My Philosophy All people are equal regardless of their race, lifestyle, religion, or mental/physical abilities. It is in who we are not what we are that we should be judged. Judge others by their heart not what you see on the outside.
What Gives Me Hope The pet who has been mistreated for years, abused, neglected, starved... and still has the ability to share a kiss.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Make a law that prohibits animals from being chained or penned away from a family.
What/who changed my life and why My husband, who has stood behind me in my quest to help animals. He helps me care for them, loves them as I do, and rarely complains about the money that is spent on them. I could ask nothing more of my life partner.
Quotation “The fate of animals is of greater importance to me than the fear of appearing ridiculous.”—Emile Zola, 1840-1902
