About Me Blessed and grateful! "Life is what you make it..." Growing up poor with very young parents made me aware of what kind of life I didn't want for myself. Watching my father struggle to provide the basic necessities for our family while riding a roller coaster of addictions to alcohol and drugs, and a mother who I didn't think liked me as much as my older sister, but it made me more independent and closer to my dad who was and is a very intelligent, loving father when sober. My dad probably didn't know it, but he taught my sisters and I some valuable lessons about respect, compassion, the importance of family and religion. I never really knew why my mother behaved the way she did until after her death. For never being close, losing her hurt more than I ever thought possible. I blamed myself that she died from medical negligence, because I left her with the hospital's incompetent staff, and I should have taken her out of that hospital and to a better facility after they caused her body to become septic. It took what seemed like an eternity to move past that part of my life, but I finally asked for God to take the pain and burden off me, so that I could be at peace and live again. Ask and ye shall receive! I have three amazing children and the most understanding and devoted husband ever. I know that there are days when most people would never be able to handle my crazy mood swings and high maintenance demands, but he has been a source of strength and love even when I didn't feel like I deserved it. I put myself through college as a single mom. My oldest son, Jacob, is off the charts intelligent, and away at college now, but he was such a blessing as a child. He made me have to grow up at 19, and he gave me a reason to take the tough road and struggle through college to achieve independence and strength. I married my husband a year after graduating, and my independence that I thought I had to have no longer felt necessary. My son, Christian was born in 2000 and my daughter Grace was a needed surprise in 2007. I have owned my own business, helped my husband build his businesses and now I am dedicated to helping others. My passion to help children has brought me to where I am now. I am actively involved in three non-profits focused on child abuse, bullying and sex-trafficking of children. I love my life, and that is why I can say that I am blessed and very grateful when I describe myself.
