What I Want to Do:

Charity Starts at Home
Much as I sympathize with the plight of people in the developing nations (and make no mistake, I do) I feel that not enough attention is given to our own people. We daily go without basic medical care because of lack of health insurance to a degree that is shocking to our Canadian neighbors and to Western Europeans. My son suffers from a rare disease, Type III Gaucher, which is almost unknown - to the extent that only some 2500 people are listed on the National Gaucher Registry. Worse, Type III is less publicized than the almost unknown Type I, and moreover, is terminal, killing its victims by the time they are 40-50. His weekly visits are $2,500 each, excluding clinic costs and his care consumes half the household income, even with what passes for insurance coverage in this country. As a consequence, I would like to see more attention paid to the plight of Americans, men, women and children, before we bankrupt ourselves and our government helping the needy oversees. Charity, as they say, starts at home, and community must be more important and take higher priority than those outside. This is not only a Heathen tenant - the Innangarthr (ON - Innangarðr) or community vs. the utangarthr (ON - Utangarðr) or "wilds" - it is, I think, basic common sense.

About Me I am a Heathen. That is, I worship the Gods of my Norse ancestors. I would say that I am a pantheist were I to use the definition toleration of worship of all Gods (as at certain periods of the Roman empire) because I certainly do not think my Gods are mere forces of nature, nor are they Jungian archetypes.

If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by If I were President my first act would be to suspend the NAFTA because it is not about free trade (which is inarguably better for everyone) but about beggering the United States to the benefit of its trading partners. NAFTA makes a Viking raid look like a boyscout outting.

I've known Heathens who took exception to the idea and who argue that it should never be categorically stated that he is. It is true that as Simek says, Loki is a God without a function and the surest sign of worship, place-names based on his name, do not exist. Then too Loki has the misfortune of having more of a "negative character" as Simek says, being that he is the father of the Midgard serpent, the Fenris wolf and Hel (keeping in mind Hel may not be a Goddess from the pre-Christian era but a later personification of a place) but at the same time he is a companion of the Gods and helps them out. In the myths, Loki stands against the Gods at Ragnrok and he and Heimdall (the guardian of the Bifrost Bridge) kill each other. In the end I don't think it matters if people include Loki as a God (what can it hurt?) though I'm not sure what you'd pray for him to do. Thor protect me! Odin grant me strength! (or wisdom) Loki....what?

Say, that's interesting, what you started at OK, so I'm going to publicly look like an idiot, and ask, why is it questioned whether or not Loki is a God?
