4 Unbelievable Trump Comments About the Russia Investigation

It’s a well-known fact that the president of the United States is a “straight-talker.” Supporters admire his lack of filter, while the rest of us wonder if President Donald Trump will ever develop any sort of diplomacy — or even common decency.

Well, if the last week is any indication, his temper is only getting worse. Now, as the FBI probe of the administration’s alleged dealings with Russia deepens, Trump has become even more belligerent.

Here are four unbelievable statements by the president in response to the Russia probe:

1. “Comey was a nut job!”

Of course everything came to a head once President Trump decided to fire FBI Director James Comey, who was overseeing the investigation into possible ties between Russia and the Trump administration. The president seemed genuinely confused that people thought his actions were improper — or even illegal.

And it didn’t help that Trump then attempted to tell the Russians how relieved he was that Comey was gone.

“The new Times story cited a document that summarized Trump’s meeting with Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak,” Politico reports. “‘I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job,’ Trump said, according to the Times. ‘I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.’”

2. “This is the biggest witch hunt ever!”

So how frustrated did the president become once he realized that the Russia investigation wouldn’t just disappear once he fired Comey? Historically frustrated, you might say. After all, according to Trump, this is the worst attack on a politician to occur — ever.

“This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!” he proclaimed via Twitter. The declaration caused a representative from Salem, Massachusetts, to tweet back: ”I can confirm that this is false. Salem, of course, was the site of the Salem witchcraft trials.”

3. “Why didn’t Clinton or Obama get investigated?”

On the other side of President Trump’s persecution complex is his insistence that his compatriots acted illegally with impunity.

“With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special councel (sic) appointed!” he tweeted early Thursday, according to NBC News.

It’s unclear exactly which ”illegal acts” President Trump referred to, but pundits assume he simply parroted a Fox News talking point he recently heard on television.

“Trump’s tweets Thursday came after the same basic argument was made on Fox News’ ‘Fox & Friends’ morning show, which the president is known to watch. His frequently echoes the arguments made on the show in his tweets shortly after they air,” reports NBC2.com. “‘Where were the Democrats and the mainstream media when we had fast and furious, or the IRS scandal? Or Benghazi? Or Hillary Clinton’s email?’ TheBlaze’s Lawrence Jones said on the show shortly before Trump’s tweet. ‘There were no calls for impeachment, there were no investigations. This is why I said Republicans should have held their ground.’”

4. “No politician has ever been treated worse!”

And Twitter wasn’t the only platform that President Trump used to complain about mistreatment. When delivering an address at the Coast Guard Academy, the president still couldn’t resist opining on his troubles in office.

““Look at the way I’ve been treated lately, especially by the media,’ Trump said on Wednesday during a speech to the Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut,” The Guardian reports. “’No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly.’”

William Cummings at USA Today begs to differ, however. He points out that two presidents were assassinated, one state senator was murdered by enemies, an African American lawmaker was blocked from service the term he won and President Barack Obama was called the “Antichrist.”

In comparison, President Trump really has had it pretty easy.

Paul B...... It's the same The Rep. did with Clinton's emails. What she did s unwise, but did not actually break a law, yet they are STILL going on about it. Common sense would tell you a lawyer she would stop short. Well unless you read right wing articles.

Rhoberta... Let them investigate just as they have been for over a year.... and STILL have NOTHING to show there was anything that violated any laws. You are basing your opinions on pure speculation by the left. At some point you will have to admit that this was all a witch hunt.
I can't wait for the special counsel to start looking into Clinton and Obama for all the corruption and illegal collusion they have with Russia and other nations. You should be worried about your heroes. I have no fear for Trump and his staff as they are innocent. If ANY evidence existed, as there is plenty with C & O, we would have heard at least something by now... but nothing. That should tell you a lot.

Well, Paul B
I guess you must live under a rock or you are entirely OK with your government spending your tax dollars on something even THEY believe isn't right about what the Russian involvement is. I guess your POTUS and his favourite son-in-law didn't retain private lawyers because there is nothing there.
Every day a new revelation on how they(Russia) interfered with false emails etc.,
All they HAVE been able to PROVE so far is that they didn't tamper with the voting machines and I did hear during one of the official testimonies that even that was probably just a matter of time before that was done unless ALL states used the same system.
I am tired of people like you with your heads in the sand denying there is a problem. I would think you would ALL want to get to a conclusion rather than have most of your WH idiots obstruct any investigation.
It's your dime.

David Y/Rhoberta... I am still waiting on ANY evidence to support your totally unfounded allegations. Speculation, conjecture, unsupported claims are of zero value. What we have going on in DC is a witch hunt. Typically you find a crime and then proceed to get evidence. What we have here is a search for evidence that MAY lead to some crime, for which they have found nothing, after over a year... nothing. That is all anyone should need to realize this is all a witch hunt.
