Conservatives Think Protesters Should “Suck It Up” [VIDEO]

The Occupy Wall Street Movement and the 99 Percent confessionals that accompany it have been having a growing impact on how our country is discussing economics, the distribution of wealth and the real labor crisis growing day by day.

It also is making conservatives, who are happy with nothing but low wage jobs as long as it keeps their taxes low, very uncomfortable.

Now the right is speaking out in an effort to belittle the movements, trying to change the way Americans are viewing those who are simply asking for the same hand up from the government that banks and brokers have been getting every day.

Alex Cortez of the conservative “Let Freedom Ring” released the following video, to portray the Occupy protesters as ignorant, violent, rude and ridicule worthy.

And conservative blogger and CNN pundit Erik Erickson has been pushing his new project, “We Are the 53 Percent,” referring to those who pay federal income taxes, implying everyone else is lazy and wants something for nothing.  Participants up the intelligent discourse even further on the Tumblr site by basically stating over and over again that anyone who wants change is a “whiner,” and they should “suck it up.”

Will these conservative counter strikes be effective at discrediting the original movement?  If not, I’m sure there are more in the wings.

Well put.

Jeffery W.
“And the vast majority of us don't believe that the rich owe us anything. We determine our own future, and don't need handouts.”

And the complete opposite is true of the rich, they believe we 99% owe them handouts. We simply want the top 1% to pay their share of taxes. We don’t owe the super rich anything either. Don’t forget the corporate handouts, guess that’s different.

Jeffery W.

“Yes, you do. You're the one whining about being victimized by corporations and the rich. I know that doesn't actually happen. Just a cheap excuse some use to cover their failures in life”

Hello, we had to bail out their greedy asses (that includes you) when they crashed the economy. Seems the uber rich expect the 99rs to give them handouts.
So how much do you get paid per post to shill for the far right?

“After watching that video, it becomes pretty obvious why the video makers have jobs and the OWSies don't.”

It’s only ‘obvious’ to those who have their heads firmly up Koch brothers asses.
Actually, those shills in the vid have jobs because ‘We The People” bailed out their greedy asses.

“Republicans = People who want to rape you, kill you, rape your corpse, make a goblet out of your skull, and use it to serve baby blood to their rich masters.”

Much like the Reavers from “FireFly”

jeffrey w. you are the classic example of the pot calling the kettle black
talk about delusions,
the CONservative republiCONS have been telling the american people for the past 4 years that we owe the rich because they are the job creators. that is a right wing delusion.
americans are ibnterested in redistribution economics, the biggest mass redistribution of wealth has taken place over the past 3 decades and it has been from the bottom and middle to the top. wages for thw poor, working and middle class have fallen or remained stagnent for the past 3 1/2 decades while the wealth of the top 2% has sky rocketed and if the rich didn't need handouts, then why the bush/paulsen/obama bailouts?
the biggest right wing delusion is that we ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for the economic crisis, it wasn't our mistakes and failures that caused the economic meltdown and it wasn't mistakes it was criminal and yes those responsible should take responsibility and be held accountable. jeffrey, over the past 30 years of the CONservative revolutuion, what have the poor, working and middle class gotten in tradeoffs?
jeffrey you are beyond delusional, this is flat out insanity

corporations, businesses and the rich aren't the job creators
this is a con perpetrated by the CONservative republiCONS
the consumers and necessity are both the job and business creators.
without the demand of the consumer there is no need for supply.
if there is no demand from the consumer for goods and services
there are no jobs, no businesses, no corporations
plain and simple.

get the picture
that's exactly what the past 3 decades have been.
the reagan revolution was just one big con game.
trickle down economics = bait and switch.
the biggest mass redistribution of wealth in american history
distributed from the bottom to the top.
the wealth never trickled down, it gushed up like old faithful
the 99% have been conned by the CONservative republiCONS.
that is what this movement is all about
the teabaggers are just too consumed with their own greed and selfishness to know it.

"Unions Destroy Jobs" is such BS. Workers deserve to make a living wage and without Unions to stand up for thier rights, they'd be working for minimum wage. Doesn't anyone remember what happened with the coal minors? They lived in poverty under the thumb of the coal company. People were dying in the mines because safety was ignored. These people were also dying at a young age of black lung. Some may argue that because of the demands of unions, jobs are sent overseas. While that may be true, those overseas workers work for pennies and have no rights while the CEO's make millions of dollars a year.

It is sad that the other protesters responded the way they did - but I am sure there was some creative editing, as well.

The right wingers get to say their piece - but I am certain they are outnumbered. "Unions destroy jobs"? SO often these arguments are about short term fears and effects - not long term realities.

I wish people had been less reactive and more pointed in their arguments. It did not look too pretty.

The fact they are doing this shows they can't co-opt the 99% movement so it scares them.
