Girl Murdered as Building Site Sacrifice

Three Indian men are being held under suspicion of brutally murdering a five-year-old girl so one of them could use her as a sacrifice to bring prosperity to his embattled construction project, reports say.

Reports The Hindu:

The CB-CID on Saturday arrested three persons, including a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary, who allegedly masterminded the gruesome murder of a five-year-old girl in a hamlet near here in January 2011.

According to the police, A. Ayub Khan of Katchakatti, the DMK functionary, sprinkled the child’s blood around a newly constructed building as part of fulfilling a vow.

On January 1, 2011, Rajalakshmi, the daughter of Thothan alias Thothal, a casual worker in Katchakatti, a hamlet near Vadipatti here, was found missing. According to her parents, she was playing in the locality with friends. The following evening, her body was found near a cattleshed.

Reports suggest that a gang of four people had been seen in the area shortly before the girl was taken.

The girl’s body is reported to have been found with cuts to the face that were ritualistic in nature. There was also evidence that she had been drained of her blood.

The manner of the girl’s injuries, and the fact that she had been killed ahead of “new moon day,” suggested a ritual sacrifice.

Authorities were eventually able to trace the killing back to the suspects when anklets the girl had been wearing were found at a local pawnbrokers, having been sold by one of the girl’s alleged killers.

The girl’s mother identified the items as gifts the family had given her to mark the new year.

A. Ayub Khan, a former deputy chairperson of a local district authority, has reportedly confessed to organizing the murder, admitting that he sprinkled the girl’s blood around the construction site of a new women’s college he was building so as to bring the project, which had repeatedly floundered, better luck.

The Hindu also has a separate report noting that the Communist Party of India has issued a call to India’s presiding government, saying the government must not allow this killing to be covered up and that it should act swiftly to thoroughly investigate this as a matter of national priority.

Why do people never sacrifice themselves?!

This is what I especially hate about people like this: they think they have the right to take someone else's life into their murdering hands.

I'm not really for the death penalty but those murderers deserve a painful death.

Praying for the parents and all those grieving....if the only thing that executing these criminals will do is dissuade others from the same crime--so be it.....

I thought the idea of "sacrifice" was that the individual gave up something of *personal* worth. NOT something of someone *else's* personal worth. These men sacrificed nothing of themselves, except their honor and integrity and their right to call themselves human. They did, however, MURDER a child - just like Agamemnon did thousands of years ago, when he sacrificed his own daughter Iphigenia to ensure a successful voyage to Troy. He got his, in the end, though. I wonder if these "men" will get similar justice?

The only prosperity they deserve is to ROT FOREVER IN JAIL, or be EXECUTED THEMSELVES FOR MURDER.
Welcome to INDIA.
