Making this Thanksgiving Cruelty-Free (VIDEO)

In this charming video, Cindy Fonteboa of The Cruelty-Free Latina shares the truth behind the turkey on many American’s tables this holiday. She is joined by Lily, a lucky turkey that will never meet the same cruel end as many of her kind. Your heart will be warmed by clips of the mutual adoration these two share as Cindy encourages the viewer to give these lovely creatures something to be thankful for this Thursday — and every day. She gives very useful tips on how to have your own cruelty-free Thanksgiving, including cookbook and meal recommendations!

the documentary "my life as a turkey" wild turkey will play with non venomus snakes. they know they can't be hurt, so they peck at and toss them. I wonder if the snakes enjoy that game of tag.

or are the birds just wild animals who don't know better?

@ Steve and all the stupid, pea brained, spiritually stunted, self righteous selfish people that think torturing and killing another living being is a CHOICE and that we should commmit barbaric acts because of tradition -

"The thinking man must oppose all cruel customs no matter how deeply rooted in tradition and surrounded by a halo. When we have a choice, we must avoid bringing torment and injury into the life of another, even the lowliest creature; not to do so is to renounce our manhood and shoulder a guilt which nothing justifies." - Albert Schweitzer

To be a vegetarian is to disagree—to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars—we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement. And I think it's a strong one." Isaac Bashevis Singer

In the course of his development towards culture man acquired a dominating position over his fellow-creatures in the animal kingdom. Not content with this supremacy, however, he began to place a gulf between his nature and theirs. He denied the possession of reason to them, and to himself he attributed an immortal soul, and made claims to a divine descent which permitted him to annihilate the bond of community between him and the animal kingdom." - Sigmund Freud

"Let me say it openly: we are surrounded by an enterprise of degradation, cruelty, and killing which rivals anything the Third Reich was capable of, indeed dwarfs it, in that ours is an enterprise without end, self regenerating, bringing rabbits, rats, poultry, livestock ceaselessly into the world for the purpose of killing them." - J. M. Coetzee

“The birds and fish and animals cannot speak but they can suffer, and our God, who created them, knows their suffering and will hold he who causes them to suffer to answer for it.” George Cannon

As an animal, the soul faces being butchered and bound. The suffering is so intense that it cannot be narrated by millions of tongues: Chha Dhaalaa (a Jain religious text).

Animals do feel like, love, fear and pain but they cannot grasp the spoken word. It is our obligation to take their part and continue to resist the people who profit by them, who slaughter them and who torture them. - Denis De Roughement.

"Nature does not belong to the human race, but to God, its creator. God appointed us stewards of nature, so that we might respect it and thus discover the true basis of our own existence." His Holiness Pope John Paul II
