Mitt Has A Plan For Women

During last night’s debate, Mitt Romney sure had a lot of opinions about women in the workplace. He seemed to think he was connecting with women voters. Do you agree?

Here’s the transcript of Romney from last night:

I had the the chance to pull together a Cabinet and all the applicants seemed to be men. And I and I went to my staff, and I said, how come all the people for these jobs are are all men?

They said, well, these are the people that have the qualifications. And I said, well, gosh, can’t we can’t we find some some women that are also qualified?

And and so we we took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet. I went to a number of women’s groups and said, can you help us find folks? And I brought us whole binders full of of women. I was proud of the fact that after I staffed my cabinet and my senior staff that the University of New York in Albany did a survey of all 50 states and concluded that mine had more women in senior leadership positions than any other state in America.

Now, one of the reasons I was able to get so many good women to be part of that team was because of our recruiting effort, but number two, because I recognized that if you’re going to have women in the workforce, that sometimes they need to be more flexible. My chief of staff, for instance, had two kids that were still in school. She said, I can’t be here until 7:00 or 8:00 at night. I need to be able to get home at 5:00 so I can be there for making dinner for my kids and being with them when they get home from school. So we said, fine, let’s have a flexible schedule so you can have hours that work for you.

I don’t know about you, but I’m insulted.

I am presuming you are speaking to me James. As regards the space allowed I have learned that if I plan to respond to a post and want to include it in my response, I copy and paste it into a word document that allows me to obtain a word count of the selected text I wish to post.
I use a word document if I only wish to post my own response. In each case the Care2 window allots space for only 235 words /-.

I am delighted you are comfortable with how much or how little you have to offer in regards to a posts length. That is of course your choice.
As for navigating sites, and your inability to see a response on a single screen I am uncertain what you are actually saying and more clarity is needed from a longer post perhaps to explain more clearly.

As for your difficulty in responding to a private message I am again uncertain as to the details of your experience so I cannot comment with any solution. I do recommend, however that you get friended by an established Care2 member as it will allow you to send green stars and may enhance and improve some of your other difficulties.

@Michael, perhaps it is an editorial shortfall on my account but I find expressing myself, even with very carefully chosen words, sometimes requires more character space than Care2 allows. Though relatively new to the site I find it a comfortable fit for my point of view on many and varied subjects. That said the site has serious problems. It lacks the ability to see responses on a single screen. I’ve never encountered this before. I have encountered problems navigating around the site. I offered it my first born child if it would allow me to respond to a private message. It never happened. Se la vie.

"Romney: Don't Put Women's Lives on the Line Worldwide for Political Gain"

This was in the "take action" today, and I I`m impressed how he can go along with himself. The man (along with 99% of officials) should be taken into custody for Phsycological examination and evaluation.

Mitt Romney is th worst candidate that has ever run for the top office. He is a vulture capitalist that is totally devoted to making the rich even richer. He went to China and saw how the young people work in factories that are surrounded by chain link fences and rather than be appalled, he thought it was a great idea and would definitely strive for that type situation here. We need to send this guy home talking to himself, before he actually gets in a position where he can destroy what little democracy that the Krook Brothers haven't bought.

Americans are caught trying to survive. Society is indifferent through commercially driven spectacles of violence. Note Rush Limbaugh’s attack on Fluke. Republicans want to cut the food stamp programs affecting 45 million and eliminate child labor laws.

Police are handing out large numbers of citations to school children. American politics is being shaped by extremists making saints of warriors and making holy our wars. The minorities and other sex are being attacked. America is almost a theocracy.

When the market becomes the template for social relations the obligations of citizenship are reduced to consumption. The GOP is giddy at the prospect of screwing all of us to pay down the national debt and turn the government into an evil.

Everyone is more isolated and they want to turn our world into a dog-eat-dog venue. The GOP has teamed up with religious extremists demanding creationism in our schools over evolution. Religious fanatics stand in our way and are using the GOP to wage a war on women. Pharmicists have refused to fill prescriptions for religious reasons. This produces disdain for critical thinking and reinforces backward ideologies like homophobia, misogyny, and patriarchy pushing criticism and censorship.

Joseph I respect your opinion. However, I am not part of the generation that learned to tweet things in 143 characters. Many times shorter posts are simply devoid of the content necessary to really depict what is happening. I am working from a computer, not some handheld device. I also have the ability to manage more than a few paragraphs.

Would the following have been as effective in getting my points across?

Michael M. Wow! beautifully and masterfully articulated! A very powerful encapsulation of what, if permitted power, will be the downfall of the American Experiment.

Thanks David, it is why I often feel like I woke up in some kind of alternate universe instead of the one I grew up and lived in.
